Sherman Skolnick's
Report - "The pipeline plots, part one"
|
- A big
thank-you to Enron's Kenneth Lay for proving
Ralph
Nader right in a big way! Now let's get Enron's right-hand errand
boy, ex-Governor Bush, out of our house before he starts World War III.
- I've been so
depressed lately. I guess it's because of the rampant war-mongers on the
radio, in the papers, and on television. A fourth Bush administration
filled with war! CIA wars in Nicaragua. Military actions in Panama,
Libya, Grenada. Outright wars on Iraq and now Afghanistan, possibly Iran, who knows.
Tell me again, who are
the blood-thirsty terrorists?
- One million Africans have AIDS, the drug companies won't help a single one of
them, and our president has declared war on the world over four thousand dead.
Of course, it's not because of the Twin Towers -- it's because the terrorists
(or in Reagan-ese, Jihad freedom fighters)
got to the Pentagon without a scratch.
- A fabricated 99.99999% approval
rating right out of one of Orwell's novels.
- Here's a true
story that demonstrates the times we're living in, as if racism in the US was
anything new: In October 2001, some men with dark skin (either Indian or
Middle Eastern) were seen standing next to their car on the side of the road, observing Shaver Lake Dam in California.
Shaver Lake is above the San Joaquin Valley which probably has more rednecks
per capita than Texas. Anyway, the good citizen who saw these
suspicious onlookers naturally concluded they were plotting to bomb the dam
and called the highway patrol. Their vehicle was eventually pulled over.
It turns out they were just sight-seeing, like any white American family does
on any given day without fear from harassment or getting the shit kicked out
of them.
This demonstrates several things. First, Americans are as paranoid
as ever over non-white folks. That's ironic considering it's the white
folks who owned slaves and murdered (I mean "converted") the natives.
Secondly, fear has gripped the entire country, even a miniscule part of
rural America that terrorists don't even know exists.
Thirdly, Americans are more apt to act upon their suspicions then they were on
September 10, 2001. At least in this case, the citizen responded with a
cell phone instead of a baseball bat. And lastly, this event demonstrates how prejudice
leads to an irrational sense of security. After September 11th,
terrorists are unlikely to stake out their targets in broad daylight, by the
side of the road. Today, everyone with dark skin in the US can't avoid being
misconstrued as a terrorist, unless said person has
an American flag near by.
- I graze upon
Politically
Incorrect with Bill Maher. Since Sept. 11th especially. There
have been some sad moments on that show for America but some surprising ones for sure.
For example, this particular show.
Those who held dear the freedom speech in the 18th century
have proven themselves to be smarter than even themselves. There might
be hope for America after all.
- The best
Politically Incorrect broadcast must have been a fluke. A very
well-spoken African American, after September 11th, dared to speak out against the
low-grade terror faced by African Americans in the US on a daily basis.
He expressed his fear about the real possibility of his son being pulled over in a white
neighborhood, and reaching for his wallet, being shot because the officer
mistook the wallet for a gun. It sounds like something out of Israel,
but no, it happens right here in the US every day. The gentleman
continued to say that, if the US treats its own citizens with such suspicion
and brutality, that the US's treatment of "foreigners" in their own country
must be even worse. Therefore some sort of retaliation was to be
expected. To hear such things on corporate-owned commercial television was quite
amazing, and I'm sure, the censors will see to it that this won't happen again.
-
KPFA and KCSM
represent the last of the free speech left on the mostly corporate-controlled
and raided radio. Enjoy them while they last. The Internet is
next.
-
See what it takes
to store spent fuel rods from nuclear power plants. This is why we
don't want any more of these things, not to mention the fact that they are an
obvious target for terrorists. This is what hubris means.
- I don't fly
the "blank check to go kick ass" US flag on my car or house
- Arabs,
Africans, Palestinians, etc. (you name it) want to kill Americans because they
think Americans are making their lives worse, and they're not entirely wrong.
- Violence begets violence. Let us recall that the CIA trained Bin Laden
to be a terrorist. Let us recall that the Anthrax used to attack Americans
came from the US military.
- The US shouldn't have been bombing Iraq for
the last ten years, shouldn't have put embargoes on Iraq and Cuba, shouldn't be
occupying Puerto Rico, and shouldn't be supplying warlords with weapons. If you're not aware of the US's
historical dirty tricks, then you're probably too busy to get your news
from non-corporate sources, and I can empathize. It's virtually
impossible to know what the truth is, you just have to decide for
yourself, but the problem is that the facts are extremely hard to find.
- The US should be doing more for Arabs than
stealing their oil and giving their fifteenth century-era women-hating
dictatorial royal families kick-backs for the privilege. And that's just
the Middle East.
- Thanks to Kissinger, the US has also devastated Central
and South America.
- I haven't even mentioned Asia.
- We're lucky
Sept. 11th is the only day we have to remember. So far anyway.
- Now we're in a
position where we have to go on endless killing sprees to feel safe, and the
problem is, we're never going to feel safe again.
-
The terrorists killed about 3,500 civilians in New York and Washington
and the US has killed about
that many with wayward bombs, and the deaths in Afghanistan and elsewhere
will continue to mount. So who is morally right? Most Americans
don't think Afghan lives are worth much, that's the problem. After all,
WE are the civilized superpower and THEY are not.
- Mr. Bush.
We are not as gullible as you might think. We do not swallow the
military's words whole. We know that innocent people are being targeted.
The military has no way of discerning between a terrorist and a non-terrorist.
As the saying goes, military intelligence is an oxymoron. So you're
guilty of murder, Mr. Bush. You're guilty of war crimes, of crimes
against humanity, and you're doing it because your father, trainers, handlers,
and pretzel pre-chewers told you to.
- While we're on
the topic of the Middle East, let's remember that Jesus was a Jew, not
a white American Christian. Today, Jesus would likely be illegally detained
for "interviewing." The prejudice and racism demonstrated by the US's
leadership only proves the hijackers' point. Our leaders have learned
nothing from the internment camps of World War II. Whenever someone says
that it's necessary to give up some freedom, it's always someone else's
freedom they're talking about.
- The scary
thing about fundamentalist Christians is that, like fundamentalist anythings,
they fundamentally don't care about life on earth. Only the
"hereafter" matters to them. They can cause hell and
as long as they're going to heaven, it's a big success. They just
can't wait until the end of the world when all the bullshit in the book of
Revelations comes true. A nuclear holocaust would certainly fit the
bill. Sorry, loonies: there's no heaven, and if there was a
hell, you'd certainly be the first to go.
- While we're on
the topic of religion, why believe in one religion over all the others?
Why would one religion be true and the others false? The ancient books
are all mistranslations of fake-history books and fiction. The real purpose of religion is to convince
the masses that they aren't good enough for spirituality, so they will get in
line and do as they are told. This is why we have people strapping bombs
to their chests and donating their life savings to Jerry Falwell. As
Nancy said so eloquently, just say NO. Be kind to all mankind, to the
animals, to the earth, and to yourself. That is the universal message of
every god.
